根據【香港人口健康調查報告書 2014/15】對香港人口進行鈉攝取量的研究當中顯示，香港人每天平均鈉攝取量高達8800毫克(男性 9800毫克；女性 7900毫克)，比世界衞生組織建議的每天鈉攝取量不多於2000毫克高出86.3%。
